Vucinic Update: Striker Off To Inter As Agent Cancels Arsenal Talks
There has been a dramatic development in our pursuit of Mirko Vucinic this afternoon with the strikers agent cancelling planned talks with Arsenal after Inter Milan entered the bidding, according to reports in Italy today.
As we reported this morning, Vucinic’s agent Alessandro Lucci was due in London on Monday to hold talks with Arsenal officials over a potential move to the Emirates.
However, with Arsene Wenger only wanting the striker on loan until the end of the season and Juventus preferring a permanent deal, it seems we’re now set to miss out after Inter made a late move.
Sky Italia are reporting that Vucinic’s agent has now cancelled his planned trip to London and will instead head to Milan with Juve director general Beppe Marotta and sporting director Fabio Paratici to hold talks with Inter about a swap deal involving Fredy Guarin.
Inter are supposedly willing to sign the Montenegrin striker on a permanent basis and offer Juve Guarin in exchange, and the two clubs are now expected to come to an agreement that will see Arsenal once again miss out.
According to Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri, Vucinic has apparently left Juve’s training today and said his goodbyes to team-mates, so he is clearly on the move and it seems the San Siro is now his most likely destination.
I can’t say I’m too upset about missing out on the 30-year-old as I feel we should be looking to sign a higher caliber of player. The only problem is whether they are going to be available in January.
With Alvaro Morata ruling out a move away from Real Madrid and Vucinic now seemingly off to Inter, that’s two targets who wont be coming to north London. Let’s hope Arsene has something else up his sleeve.
