Pre-Liverpool Team News: Wenger On Wilshere, Arteta, Diaby & Debuchy
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Jack Wilshere, Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Debuchy and Abou Diaby won’t be available for this weekends clash with Liverpool.
All four players have been on the sidelines with various injuries in recent months – or years in the case of Diaby.
They all stepped-up their comebacks after playing in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Brentford on Tuesday afternoon and there were hopes they would be available to face Liverpool on Saturday.
But speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this morning, Wenger has confirmed that while they are all back in full training, the game this weekend will come too soon.
However, the boss later appeared to suggest that Wilshere may have a chance of featuring, after saying that he wasn’t sure if the midfielder would be involved against Liverpool.
So we’ll have to wait and see whether Jack’s named in the squad, but I’m guessing he’ll be on the bench this weekend.
It means that Francis Coquelin should continue in the holding role with Aaron Ramsey and Santi Cazorla fighting it out to start alongside the Frenchman.
With Debuchy also still unavailable, Hector Bellerin or Calum Chambers will start at right-back on Saturday.
