Agent: Arsenal have held talks to sign Liverpool & Man Utd target
Arsenal are among the clubs who’ve held talks over the possible signing of Atlanta midfielder Franck Kessie, according to the players agent.
Kessie has developed in to one of the most exciting young midfield players in Europe over the past 18 months and his form at Atlanta this season in particular has been exceptional.
Despite being deployed as a defensive midfielder, the 20-year-old has managed to score 7 goals and provide 2 assists in his 17 appearances so far so help Atalanta climb up to sixth in the Serie A table.
The Ivory Coast international has understandably been attracting plenty of attention from top clubs through Europe and it seems we’re right in the mix to secure his signature.
Kessie’s agent, George Atangana, has been doing his best to drum up interest in his client and he’s now named Arsenal as one of the clubs who’ve supposedly been in touch to discuss a potential deal.
However, we will face some stiff competition as Atangana also claims that Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City have also registered their interest in luring the midfielder to the Premier League.
The agent is quoted as saying by the Mirror:
“We have a lot of interest from the Premier League. Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal.
“I cannot say at this stage how much he will cost but we are talking about one of the best young players in the world. But for us the most important thing is that the technical project is the right one for him.”
I saw reports last month that suggested Chelsea had seen a £27m bid rejected just before deadline day so they clearly have a serious interest in signing Kessie but Atlanta wisely decided to hold on to him.
The Italians will know that their asset will continue to increase in value during the second half of the season and they’ll be able to auction him off to the highest bidder this summer.

Arsenal don’t tend to get involved in bidding wars so I’d be surprised if we were to win this particular race but Kessie will be an excellent signing for whichever club ends up nabbing him.
