Arsenal plot swoop for £17.5m Serie A midfielder

By on June 14, 2017

According to the Mirror, Arsenal are plotting a swoop for Juventus midfielder Mario Lemina as Arsene Wenger looks to reshape his squad this summer.

The boss has been given the backing of Stan Kroenke to spend big in the transfer market to build a squad capable of mounting a serious title challenge after we missed out on the top four last season.

While a goal-scoring striker is expected to be a priority, Wenger is also seemingly keen to strengthen his midfield options as we can no longer rely on Santi Cazorla due to his on-going Achilles problems.

Lemina has emerged as a prime target in recent weeks and now the Mirror are quoting a report coming from Tuttosport that claims Arsenal are eyeing a swoop for the Juve midfielder this summer.

The Gabon international moved to Turin from Marseille in 2015 but he’s struggled to hold down a regular place in Max Allegri’s starting eleven having made just 15 league starts over the past two years.

Due to his bit-part role in the squad, Tuttospot suggest Juve are open to cashing in this summer and will do business with Arsenal if £17.5m is put on the table.

Lemina himself is understood to be keen to secure more regular first team football so a move could be on the cards over the coming weeks and he was quoted in the Evening Standard last week as saying that he is ‘flattered’ by Arsenal’s interest.

It remains to be seen whether Wenger will be prepared to meet Juve’s asking price but Lemina is a huge talent so it could be a decent bit of business by the boss if we can snap him up for £17.5m this summer.
