Arsenal confident of signing 14-goal attacker, £5.2m-a-year deal lined-up

According to the Mirror, Arsenal are ready to offer Thomas Lemar a five-year contract worth £100,000-a-week and are confident of getting a deal agreed with Monaco for his signature.

Lemar has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates this summer after Arsene Wenger made the attacker one of his prime targets as he looks to build a squad capable of competing for the title next season.

We’ve already signed Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac but the boss wants to further strengthen his attacking options and it seems he’s determined to lure Lemar to north London after confirming his interest yesterday.

The Mirror claim that Arsenal are ready to offer the 21-year-old a five-year contract worth £5.2m-per-season, or £100,000-a-week, and the player is believed to be keen on a move to the Emirates.

Lemar’s representatives have already held talks with Monaco about a switch to Arsenal and the newspaper says we are growing increasingly confident of getting a deal agreed, despite seeing two bids turned down.

Our most recent offer was for £40m but the Mirror claim Wenger is ready to go back in and test Monaco’s resolve with a third offer worth at least £45m and is hoping that will be enough to persuade the Ligue 1 champions to cash-in.

Lemar has just come off the back of a superb season that saw him score 14 goals and provide 17 assists so he’d certainly add some real creativity to our attack if we manage to sign him this summer.

The French international is predominantly played from the left side of attack so he could be viewed as a potential replacement for Alexis Sanchez – although he is capable of playing anywhere across the midfield positions.

Let’s see how Monaco respond when this reported improved bid goes in but fingers crossed we get a deal agreed as Lemar would be an excellent addition to the squad.
