Arsenal set to make huge offer for Spanish international
According to a report in The Sun, Arsenal are set to make an ‘incredible offer’ for Real Madrid midfielder Marco Asensio as Arsene Wenger looks to add to his squad this summer.
The boss has only made two significant additions so far with defender Sead Kolasinac and striker Alexandre Lacazette arriving but Wenger has confirmed he’s in the market for further new recruits.
An attacking midfielder appears to be on the agenda as we’ve been strongly linked with a number of players in recent weeks but it looks as though we’re now ready to turn our attention to Asensio.
The Sun are citing a report from Spanish outlet Don Balon that claims Arsenal are among the clubs set to make a huge offer to try and prise the midfielder away from the Bernabeu this summer.
Asensio joined Madrid in 2014 and was given his chance in the first team squad last season after enjoying two successful years out on loan at Mallorca and Espanyol.
The 21-year-old struggled to hold down a regular first team place in Zidane’s side as he made just 11 La Liga starts but he still managed to score 10 goals across all competitions despite his lack of regular action.
Asensio is considered as one of the hottest young talents in Europe and is already a full international with Spain so he’d obviously be a sensational signing if we could somehow pull it off.
The report doesn’t indicate how much our supposed offer will be worth but I don’t think it matters too much as Madrid aren’t interested in selling the attacking midfielder.
Even if they were open to the idea of cashing-in, The Sun suggest that Manchester United and Juventus are also ready to enter the bidding for his services so we’ll face stiff competition.

Therefore, I think Wenger should be concentrating his efforts on more realistic targets such as Thomas Lemar and Riyad Mahrez – both of which have also been strongly linked in recent weeks.
