According to a report in the Express, Paris Saint-Germain have offered Arsenal the chance to sign Lucas Moura or Blaise Matuidi in part-exchange for Alexis Sanchez this summer.

Sanchez’s future at the Emirates is in serious doubt as he’s in the final year of his contract and so far we’ve been unable to agree terms to tie him down to an extension.

The Chilean international has been strongly linked with a number of European clubs in recent weeks but Arsene Wenger insists we won’t cash-in on our star-man, even if he doesn’t sign a new deal.

Understandably, many fans are dubious about the bosses claims as we’ve heard this all before over the years only to see key players leave and it seems PSG are still hoping to get a deal agreed for Alexis.

The Express are citing a report from France Football journalist Nabil Djellit who claims the Ligue 1 giants have now offered Arsenal the chance to take Moura or Matuidi as part of any deal to sign Sanchez.

The journalist is quoted as saying by the newspaper:

“PSG has proposed players to Arsenal in the Sanchez deal (Lucas or Blaise Matuidi),”

Alexis confirmed earlier this month that he wants to play Champions League football, which was a clear indication he wants to leave the Emirates, so I think we should cash-in if he makes it clear he won’t sign a new deal.

There is no point keeping a player at the club who has no intention of staying beyond this season and we’ll end up losing between £50m-£70m, so let’s just sell him to PSG this summer and prevent him joining Man City for nothing in 12 months time.

A potential swap-deal is tempting and personally I’d like to see both Matuidi and Moura join Arsenal as they would be excellent signings but if I had to choose one I’d go for the Brazilian international.

The 24-year-old is a hugely exciting talent and he would be a direct replacement for Sanchez – plus we should have money left over to spend on strengthening other areas.

Moura isn’t on Sanchez’s level yet but he chipped in with 19 goals and 11 assists for PSG last season so he has the potential to replace his creativity in the final third.

We’ve already signed Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac so if we could land a top central midfielder and centre-back along with Moura, we should have a much stronger squad overall, even if we do lose Alexis.
