Arsenal set to complete £45m signing, personal terms agreed
According to The Sun, Arsenal are finally set to complete a £45m deal to sign Thomas Lemar following a breakthrough in negotiations with Monaco and the attacker is already believed to have agreed personal terms.
Arsene Wenger has been strongly pursuing Lemar in recent weeks but Monaco have proven difficult to deal with as they have been extremely reluctant to sell any more of their title-winning squad.
The Sun claim the French outfit even slapped an £80m price-tag on the 21-year-old’s head to try and deter Arsenal after rejecting our latest offer worth in the region of £40m.
However, Arsenal maintained their interest and the newspaper says we’ve finally found a breakthrough in negotiations with a £45m deal now believed to be close to completion.
The report suggests that Lemar is hoping to be given the green light to wrap-up his move to the Emirates by the end of the week after already agreeing personal terms with Arsenal.
If true, this is huge news as Lemar would be an excellent addition to the squad and he’d become Wenger’s third major signing of the summer following the arrivals of Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac.
The French international has developed in to one of the most exciting young attackers in Europe over the past two years and he scored 14 goals as well as 17 assists to help lead Monaco to the title last season.
Those are some very impressive stats for a player so young and obviously Lemar has the potential to develop his game even further at Arsenal so I’ll be buzzing if we do end up signing him.
However, my only concern is that he’s being lined-up as a potential replacement for Alexis Sanchez – who continues to be linked with moves to PSG and Man City after failing to sign an extension.

There’s no doubt Lemar is a huge talent but he’s not on Sanchez’s level just yet so unfortunately we’re going to be left weaker if Alexis does end up leaving. Let’s hope Wenger sticks to his word this time and refuses to cash-in on our Chilean superstar.
