Arsenal eye £32m bid after making enquiry over German attacker
According to reports in France via the Metro, Arsenal are considering a £32m bid for Julian Draxler after opening talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a potential deal.
Draxler is expected to leave PSG following the arrival of Neymar in a world record deal from Barcelona while the imminent signing of Kylian Mbappe from Monaco will also push him further down the pecking order.
Widespread reports suggest PSG are now ready to cash-in on the German international just eight months after paying Wolfsburg £35m for his signature and he’s attracted plenty of interest throughout Europe.
The Metro are citing a report from Le 10 Sport that claims Arsenal are weighing-up a £32m offer after making contact with PSG to discuss a potential deal.
Arsene Wenger has held a long-term interest in Draxler so these reports are hardly a surprise, especially given the speculation this morning surrounding Alexis Sanchez and his possible move to Man City.
If Alexis is really heading to City, then we have to sign a top class replacement and I’d love to see us land Draxler as he’s got the potential to be a world class attacker.
The 23-year-old scored 10 goals in 25 appearances for PSG during the second half of last season and has already racked up 35 caps for the German national team having helped them win the World Cup.
He’s capable of playing anywhere across the attacking positions so he’d be a direct replacement for Sanchez and I think it’s a no-brainer to sign him if he wants to come to the Emirates.
Sanchez doesn’t want to be here anymore and won’t sign a new deal so it’s pointless forcing him to stay for another year only to lose him for nothing. Let’s sell him to City for £60m, buy Draxler for £32m and use the remaining money to go towards a centre-back and central midfielder.
We’d then have a squad capable of doing something this season.
