Arsenal to launch £60m bid to sign French international, Emery a big fan
According to a report in the Mirror, Arsenal boss Unai Emery has identified Corentin Tolisso as the man to strengthen our midfield and is prepared to pay £60m to sign the Bayern Munich star.
Emery knows he needs to revamp the squad he inherited from Arsene Wenger after we finished sixth last season and we need to sign at least one new central midfielder this summer.
Santi Cazorla has left the club, Jack Wilshere could also leave on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the month while Aaron Ramsey’s future is also in doubt.
So we need to strengthen in the middle of the park and the Mirror are citing a report from CalcioInsider that claims Arsenal are targetting an ambitious swoop to sign Tolisso.
The 23-year-old made his name playing alongside Alexandre Lacazette at Lyon before joining Bayern last summer and he enjoyed a solid debut campaign in Germany having provided 10 goals and 7 assists last season.
It seems that form has impressed Emery as the report says our new head coach is a huge fan of Tolisso and is keen to lure the French international to the Emirates this summer.
The newspaper says Arsenal chiefs will test Bayern’s resolve with a club record £60m offer, however, even that may not be enough as the German’s are expected to rebuff any approach for the midfielder.

Tolisso would be a superb addition to the squad if we could somehow get a deal agreed but he’s still under a long-term contract at the Allianz Arena and it looks like Bayern aren’t in any mood to sell.
Therefore, a transfer is extremely unlikely to go through this summer so Emery will have to move on to other midfield targets but it’s just nice to see the club are willing to spend big on top quality players.
