Arsenal Battle Man Utd For £13m-Rated ‘Ukrainian Messi’
According to reports, Arsenal are ready to go head-to-head with Manchester United for the signature of £13m-rated Dnipro playmaker Yevhen Konoplyanka – who’s been dubbed as the ‘Ukrainian Messi’.
Konoplyanka is highly regarded in his homeland and announced himself on the international scene with some eye-catching display’s at the 2012 European Championships before scoring a stunning effort against England in the World Cup qualifier back in September.
The 23-year-old is attracting interest from throughout Europe and after spending his entire professional career at Dnipro, it appears he now wants to test himself at a higher level with his agent, James Lippett, claiming he has offers from Germany and the Premier League.
“Yevhen is very highly rated amongst the top teams in England and Germany. The question is simply whether these clubs can meet Dnipro’s valuation and the player’s expectations”. Lippett told talkSPORT
talkSPORT claim that we’ve joined the likes of Man Utd, Wolfsburg and Bayer Leverkusen in showing an interest
but Dnipro are expected to demand £13m for the talented playmaker.
That kind of money would be a big risk for a player yet to really prove himself outside of Ukraine but he’s certainly a talented lad. A playmaker is probably the last thing we need right now though, so I’d prefer we concentrate our efforts on bringing in a world class striker, defensive midfielder, utility defender and experienced goalkeeper first!
