RATINGS: Arsenal 2-0 Napoli: Ozil Unplayable
Arsenal made it 10 mins on the bounce with a superb display to down Napoli 2-0 at the Emirates on Tuesday night.
Ozil fired us ahead after some excellent work from Giroud and Ramsey before turning provider for the big Frenchman as we took control within the opening half hour.
The boys eased their foot off the gas in the second half and saw out a rather comfortable 2-0 win. Here are my ratings.
Szczesny 7/10 – Was barely called upon to make any save of note but did what was asked of him with a few decent takes from crosses and distribution was good.
Sagna 7/10 – Another solid display by Bac. Kept the usually dangerous Napoli frontline quiet.
Mertesacker 7.5/10 – Composed at the back and made some important interceptions when the visitors did put an attack together.
Koscielny 7.5/10 – The other half of a superb centre-back partnership. Pandev was in his pocket all night.
Gibbs 7/10 – Got forward loads in the first half as we ran riot and he kept disciplined after the break as we saw out the game.
Flamini 7.5/10 – Another excellent display by the spiky Frenchman. He looked solid alongside Arteta and kept the Italians at bay.
Arteta 6.5/10 – A decent comeback from Mikel but he still looks a little off the pace in terms of match fitness. Gave away a fee free-kicks, but he’ll be back to his best in no time.
Ramsey 8/10 – He was rampant in the first half. Winning every loose ball, getting about the pitch and set up Ozil for the opener with a lovely ball. Much quieter in the second half though as we slowed things down. Looked like he may have picked up a knock before half time but played the full 90 minutes.
Rosicky 6/10 – Looked rusty on his return, which is to be expected. Was still full of energy and linked up well at times, but gave away possession cheaply on several occasions.
Ozil 9/10 – Unplayable in the first half. His goal was pure quality and his ball for Giroud’s was perfect. It’s going to be a joy to watch this lad week-in, week-out.
Giroud 8.5/10 – His best display of the season. Played a vital part in the opener as he held the ball up before releasing Ramsey and took his goal well. His hold up play was exceptional all night and he was a real handful. If he could keep this up all season, we’ll have a real chance of doing something.
Subs:
Wilshere 6.5/10 – Showed some quality after coming on.
Monreal – N/A
So another excellent win under our belt and we can make it 11 wins in a row against West Brom on Sunday before another untimely international break.
What were your ratings? How good were Ozil and Giroud?
