RATINGS: Arsenal 4-1 Norwich: Wilshere Back To His Best
We eased to a 4-1 win over Norwich on Saturday to move two points clear at the top of the league with the players playing some sublime football throughout the ninety minutes.
Here are my ratings:
Szczesny 7/10 – Excellent save to deny Fer from long-range just before the break. Could perhaps have done more to stop Howson’s goal as he was beaten too easily at his near post, but otherwise steady.
Sagna 6.5/10 – Got forward well early on and put in a couple of decent crosses. Went close with a well hit left-foot volley just before the break but could have done more to stop the cross that led to their goal.
Mertesacker 6.5/10 – Excellent block to deny Snodgrass a good chance to get a shot off just before half time. Poor clearance led to the visitors goal but otherwise calm and assured at the back.
Koscielny 7/10 – Solid display from the Frenchman. Used his pace well to clear danger and made some important interceptions.
Gibbs 6.5/10 – Should have done better for the Norwich goal by closing Howon down quicker but got himself involved in the attacks when he could.
Arteta 6.5/10 – Sloppy in possession at times and missed Flamini’s tenacious spirit next to him when he went off, but was still an assured presence in the middle. Not convinced he should start in our strongest team anymore though.
Flamini 7/10 – Forced off in the 35th minute following a clash of heads after a typically energetic display.
Wilshere 8/10 – On the end of a stunning move to cooly slot home the opening goal. You simply have to see it to believe it. Looks to be nearing full fitness and he has that little burst of pace back again. Almost scored another late on but curled one just wide.
Ozil 8/10 – Great header made it 2-0 and sealed the win with a calm finish from close range late on. Sublime when he was on the ball but looked a little tired at times.
Cazorla 7/10 – Took his time to find his feet after a lengthy spell on the sidelines but showed his quality in flashes. Involved in the build up to the opener, driving inside and interchanging with Giroud before going off after an hour.
Giroud 8/10 – Superb assist for Wilshere’s opener. Forced an excellent save from Ruddy late in the second half then grabbed another assist with a lovely cross to set up Ozil. His team play is vital and he’s proving to be one of the most complete forward’s in the league.
Subs
Ramsey 7.5/10 – His purple patch in front of goal continued with another stunning effort, twisting his way through the Norwich defence before cooly firing home. Also got an assist with a clever cut back for Ozil.
Rosicky 7/10 – Involved in some build up play late on and set up the fourth with a lovely cross.
Bendtner 7/10 – Looked sharp after coming on for Giroud and went close to scoring with a powerful effort that was well saved by Ruddy.
So another excellent display and we extended our lead at the top of the league to two points. United and Liverpool dropped points and hopefully Spurs will follow them on Sunday to make it a superb weekend!
