My Preferred Arsenal Team To Take On Marseille
We welcome Group F whipping-boys, Marseille, to the Emirates on Tuesday night looking to secure our place in the last 16 of the Champions League.
The win over Southampton brought with it no fresh injury concerns so it will be very-much the same squad that played at the weekend. The only change will see Mathieu Flamini return to the squad after serving his one-match ban on Saturday.
It’s going to be interesting to see what Arsene Wenger does now he’s got the majority of his midfielders fit and available. Wilshere, Arteta, Flamini, Ramsey, Ozil, Walcott, Cazorla and Rosicky are all in contention to fill five positions behind Giroud.
In the middle, the boss has gone with Arteta and Flamini in the past with the likes of Wilshere and Ramsey out wide, but that was when Walcott and Cazorla were injured. So we might see what his preferred pairing is in the middle of the park tomorrow.
Personally, I’d like to see Arteta and Wilshere given a well-earned rest and have Flamini next to Rambo. Jack played in both England fixtures and got 90 minutes under his belt on Saturday, so I think he’ll definitely miss out, but if Theo starts on the right I’d like to see Flamini alongside Ramsey and Mikel get a rest.
Otherwise, I think we should play our strongest side, get the job done and hope for a draw in the groups other game which would see us qualify for the last 16. We can then go to Napoli in the final game, play-out a draw and retain top spot.
Here’s my preferred XI:
What do you think of my team? What would you go for?
