RATINGS: My Player Ratings From Arsenal’s 2-0 Win Over Tottenham
Arsenal eased past Tottenham 2-0 at the Emirates tonight with goals from Santi Cazorla and Tomas Rosicky booking our place in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
It was far easier than I had anticipated and in truth we should have scored more, but we did enough to dump them out the cup and progress to the next round.
Here are my ratings:
Fabianski 6.5/10 – In for Szczesny and did nothing wrong. He had little to do but did make what could have been a crucial early save to deny Eriksen when the score was still 0-0.
Sagna 7.5/10 – Another excellent display from the experienced defender. The sooner he signs a new deal, the better.
Koscielny 7.5/10 – Didn’t give Adebayor or Soldado a sniff. Made a couple of important interceptions and was dominant at the back.
Vermaelen 6.5/10 – Was booked early on for a poor tackle on Dembele but looked pretty comfortable and made a superb sliding tackle to deny Soldado. Was forced off at half time with what appeared to be a cut knee.
Monreal 7/10 – Steady display from the Spaniard. Dealt with the threat of Lennon well and got himself forward on occasion.
Arteta 7.5/10 – Bossed the midfield. Yes we had a man advantage in the middle but Arteta was excellent and controlled the game.
Wilshere 7/10 – Was once again picked out for some rough treatment and the ref failed to protect him by bringing his cards out. But Jack dealt with it well and always keen to get at the Spurs midfield.
Rosicky 8/10 – Excellent performance capped off by a wonderful goal. Typical Rossa to put Danny Rose under pressure and it paid off as he robbed the defender before running half the length of the field to chip past Lloris for 2-0.
Gnabry 8/10 – Thrown into his first NLD and boy did handle it well. Was fearless all game, running Spurs ragged and set up the opener with a lovely ball. Superb stuff from the youngster. Pushed Cazorla for the MOM award.
Cazorla 8.5/10 – Back to his best as he ran the game. Stunning finish for the opener and was a constant threat. Lovely interplay with Rosicky at times. Great to watch.
Walcott 8/10 – Started as the striker and proved he’s capable of being a real threat up top. Showed some superb movement, particularly for the opener, and was unlucky not to get himself on the score-sheet. On another day he could have bagged a hat-trick. Unfortunately he was forced off with a knee injury but hopefully it’s not serious.
Subs:
Mertesacker 7/10 – Slotted in seamlessly alongside Koscielny and was a clam assured head at the back.
Flamini 6.5/10 – On to shore things up.
Ozil 6.5/10 – Almost made it 3-0 but his effort was well saved.
