Wenger’s Team News Update: Ramsey Out, Giroud Fit, Gibbs A Doubt
Arsene Wenger is holding his press conference this morning ahead of Monday’s clash with Aston Villa and he’s given another team news update.
Yesterday we heard that Aaron Ramsey had a chance to be fit for the game but the boss has confirmed the Welshman will take no part as he’s still recovering from his thigh injury.
Olivier Giroud has missed the last two games with an ankle injury but the Frenchman has been passed fit for Monday’s trip to Villa Park, with Wenger hinting the striker needed a rest and will now come back stronger for the second half of the season.
Kieran Gibbs remains a doubt though with the boss saying he ‘little chance’ of returning but Nicklas Bendtner and Thomas Vermaelen are definitely out with ankle and knee injuries respectively.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain returned from a five month absence with a run-out for the under-21’s last night and Wenger says he will have no problem in playing him against Villa, so we should expect the Ox to be on the bench on Monday.
Here are some lines from his press conference:
Other #afc team news for Villa. Wenger: "Giroud fit, Ramsey probably not [fit], Gibbs has a little chance, Bendtner and Vermaelen out."
