German Striker ‘Upset’ As Arsenal Move Falls Through

By on January 31, 2014

The transfer window has closed and unfortunately it looks like Arsenal have failed to bring in a striker.

We were linked with a number of front-men throughout the month but with no new addition signed by the morning of deadline day, the search was on to make a last minute buy.

The big name being touted around the wires on Friday was German hitman Miroslav Klose with widespread reports suggesting Lazio rejected our offer of £2m to take him on loan until the end of the season.

Reports tonight suggest that Klose told the clubs hierarchy that he was keen on the move and was left deeply ‘deeply upset’ after seeing his proposed switch to the Emirates fall through.

The Metro claim the prolific striker wanted to come to the Premier League as he thought it would boost his chances of making the Germany squad for this summer World Cup and he had apparently already spoken to our German contingent – Mesut Ozil, Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski – about life at the club, however Lazio refused to do business.

It’s a real shame we couldn’t pull this one off as Klose would certainly have added to our goal threat up front during the second half of the season. He’s one of the deadliest finishers around and would have been a real alternative to Olivier Giroud, but it wasn’t to be.

Now we have to go through till the end of the season relying on Giroud, Bendtner, Sanogo and Podolski. Whether that will be good enough to land us some silverware remains to be seen.

How disappointed are you that we didn’t sign a striker? Let me know your thoughts…
