Arsenal ‘Agree Fee & Personal Terms’ To Land Midfielder – Report
Arsenal are on the verge of signing Sami Khedira in a €30m deal after agreeing a four-year contract with the German international worth £140,000-a-week, according to reports.
After weeks of speculation suggesting we have been in talks with both Real Madrid and Khedira’s representatives, the Metro are carrying a report today that claims a€30m (£24m) fee has now been agreed with the European champions.
The newspaper goes on to state that we’ve been deep in negotiations with Khedira’s agents over the past three days and have now agreed terms over a four-year deal worth £140,000-a-week and the transfer is expected to be officially announced in the next 48 hours.
This report comes after Arsene Wenger refused to rule out a move for the 27-year-old midfielder. When quizzed about his interest in Khedira after yesterday’s 2-0 win over Boreham Wood, Wenger said:
‘I can’t give you any names,’ Wenger told reporters.
‘We are still active. Sometimes the players you want are available very late. You do the deals when they are possible.’
Kheidra has been widely tipped to leave Madrid this summer after turning down a contract extension offer, and with the player good friends with our German trio and the boss looking for a long-term replacement for Mikel Arteta, many have suggested he’s on his way to the Emirates.
However, while the Metro’s report seems hugely exciting on the face of it, on closer inspection it turns out the majority of their information has come from CaughtOffside.
That particular outlet has a very poor reputation when it comes to accurate transfer news, so sadly, I won’t be getting my hopes up of seeing Khedira unveilled at the Emirates any time soon if we’re basing it solely on CaughtOffside’s ‘sources’.
That’s not to say a deal won’t get done, as there are plenty of more reputable newspapers and outlets confirming our interest in Khedira, so there’s still every chance we might sign the German this summer, but I’ll be taking the Metro and CaughtOffside’s report with a large pinch of salt for now.
