Arsenal Set To Miss Out On Key Transfer Target – Report
Arsenal have received a blow in their pursuit of Sami Khedira with the Real Madrid midfielder now keen on joining Bayern Munich, according to reports.
We’ve been strongly linked with Khedira all summer after it emerged he had turned down a contract extension offer from Madrid, and reports earlier in the summer claimed that we had held talks with the player about a move to the Emirates.
The 27-year-old has just entered the final year of his contract and initial reports suggested that Madrid were looking for around €25m for the midfielder, but that figure has now dropped to just €15m after Khedira threatened to run down his deal and walk away for free next year.
Carlo Ancelotti has frozen the German international out of his squad in recent games to try and force him out the club and while Arsenal have been tipped to make a late push for his signature, the Express are reporting that Khedira has asked his agent to seal a move to Bayern Munich.
The Bundesliga champs are in the market for a another midfielder following serious injuries to Javi Martinez and Bastian Schweinsteiger, and it looks like Khedira could be on his way to the Allianz Arena to fill the void.
It would certainly be a shame to miss out on such a talented player. We desperately need to bring in a powerful midfielder and Khedira would have fitted the bill nicely, particularly at €15m as it would have been a bargain.
Hopefully Arsene will continue to push for another big money signing before the end of the month, with the likes of William Carvalho and Adrien Rabiot the latest to be touted as potential targets.
