RATINGS: Arsenal 3-0 Burnley: Sanchez Simply Sensational
Arsenal made hard work of it but eventually eased past Burnley thanks to a second half double from Alexis Sanchez while Calum Chambers also grabbed his first goal for the club.
These are my ratings:
Szczesny – 6/10 – Easiest paycheck he’ll ever earn. Virtually nothing to do.
Chambers – 8/10 – His best performance in an Arsenal shirt. Great cross set up the opener and got his first goal for the club.
Gibbs – 7.5/10 – Great display. Always keen to get forward and got his assist for the late third goal.
Mertesacker – 6.5/10 – Composed display against limited opposition.
Monreal – 6.5/10 – Did nothing wrong. In fact, he looked pretty comfortable at centre-back.
Flamini – 6/10 – Baffled he started and his display didn’t change my mind. Brought little to the game.
Arteta – 7/10 – Very good in possession. Just a shame his legs are gone.
The Ox – 7/10 – Energetic display and linked up well with Chambers down the right.
Cazorla – 6/10 – What has happened to his finishing? Spurned several excellent opportunities to score.
Sanchez – 10/10 – Sensational. Didn’t stop working, chased every ball, flew into tackles, and got the goals his performance deserved. What a player.
Welbeck – 6.5/10 – Should have got himself on the score-sheet but was a little unfortunate to see two shots blocked on the line.
Subs:
Ramsey – 6.5/10 – Easing his way back to fitness. Still a few too many stray passes.
Podolski – 7/10 – Great technique to almost score two stunning volley’s. One was well saved the other almost snapped the crossbar.
Walcott – 7/10 – Made a real difference when he came on. Forced a good save from Heaton and almost got an assist for Podolski. He’s going to be a key player for us this season.
Three points, a clean sheet, another Sanchez brace, Theo’s return and Chambers opening his account makes it a successful afternoon. We showed patience to wear Burnley down and got our rewards, let’s hope we can push on from this.
