‘I Love Arsenal’ – Midfielder Drops Huge Hint Over Gunners Move
Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko has dropped a huge hint that he wants to join Arsenal after declaring his ‘love’ for the club.
We’ve been linked with a move for the French international in recent weeks as Arsene Wenger draws up a list of targets ahead of the January transfer window.
A versatile midfielder is on the agenda with Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere, Abou Diaby, Tomas Rosicky and Mikel Arteta all currently injured and Sissoko would certainly fit the bill.
It seems the 25-year-old would be open to the move as he’s told French paper L’Equipe that he loves Arsenal and his idol was former skipper Patrick Vieira.
“When I was young, Arsenal was my favourite.” Sissoko said
“There was my idol Patrick Vieira. I’ve always loved this club, I still love them.”
The newspapers have suggested we could be lining-up a £15m bid and Sissoko would certainly be interested in a switch to the Emirates, but it remains to be seen how Newcastle will react should we make our interest official.
Sissoko’s contract runs until 2019 so the Magpies are under no pressure to sell. The good news is that owner Mike Ashley has proven in the past he’ll cash-in if the price is right, but I have a feeling they’d demand in excess of £20m in today’s market. Will Arsene go that high? I’m not convinced….
