Key Arsenal Trio Close To Return But Arteta Suffers Set Back
Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey and Laurent Koscielny are all closing in on their comebacks but Mikel Arteta has suffered a set-back.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Friday’s clash with QPR, the boss revealed that Ramsey is on the verge of recovering from his hamstring injury.
The Welshman won’t feature against QPR or West Ham, but could return to action against Southampton on New Years Day.
In a further boost, Koscielny is now considered ‘close’ to returning from his calf injury and could be back to face West Ham on Sunday. The Frenchman won’t be risked against Harry Redknapp’s men so we’ll have to make-do with the defence that faced Liverpool.
Arsene also gave an update on Ozil and confirmed the German international will be back in full training at the beginning of January. It will take a couple of weeks before he’s considered for the first team but he could be back in the squad against Stoke on January 11, or the following week away at Man City.
So that’s three key players who should all return within the next couple of weeks which is going to make a massive difference to the team. However, it’s not all good news as the boss revealed that Mikel Arteta has suffered a set-back.
The Spaniard has been struggling with a calf problem and wont play again this year meaning he’ll now sit out games against QPR, West Ham and most likely Southampton.
