£10m Star “99 Per Cent” Certain He’ll Join Arsenal This Summer
According to reports today, Petr Cech is “99 per cent” certain that he’ll join Arsenal this summer.
Cech has already confirmed he’ll be looking for a new challenge after losing his first team place to Thibaut Courtois this season.
Understandably, there has been no shortage of interest in the goalkeeper with the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and more recently Man Utd all linked, while a host of foreign clubs are also believed to be keen.
However, the Daily Star claim today that Cech’s preferred destination is Arsenal and he’s “99 per cent” certain he’ll make the move to the Emirates this summer.
The only remaining doubt is whether Jose Mourinho is able to block the move. The Chelsea boss has already gone on record to say his preference would be for Cech to be sold abroad but the Star claim that Roman Abramovich has told Cech he’s free to join any club he wants as a thank-you for his ten years of loyal service.
So going by this report, unless Mourinho can persuade Abramovich to change his mind, Cech is set to make a move to Arsenal this summer.
Previous speculation has suggested that the Czech international would prefer to remain in London where he and his family are settled, so a switch the Emirates does appear to make sense for all parties – except Chelsea of course.
It’s understood the 32-year-old is available for £10m and if the Blues will do business with us, I think this deal is a complete no-brainer.
Ospina has done well enough since replacing Szczesny in January but there’s no doubt Cech is an upgrade on the Colombian and we’d finally have a reliable, world class keeper for next season.
Let’s hope these reports are accurate as Cech would be a huge signing and one which would go a long way to making us genuine title-challengers next year.
