Arsenal ‘Make Contact’ With 29-Goal Striker To Discuss €50m Move

By on June 1, 2015

Arsenal have made contact with Gonzalo Higuain to discuss a move from Napoli that could set us back a fee in the region of €50m. That’s according to Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri.

Higuain is a name that’s long been linked with a move to the Emirates and we reportedly came close to signing him back in 2013 when he left Real Madrid, but our failed bid to sign Luis Suarez side-tracked us and we eventually lost out to Napoli.

The Argentinean international has continued to demonstrate his fine goal-scoring touch in Italy and despite missing a vital penalty against Lazio over the weekend, he still ended the season with 29 goals in his 58 appearances.

Higuain’s future has come into question after Rafa Bentiez’s departure and Napoli’s failure to qualify for the Champions League next season, and it looks like Arsenal have now renewed their interest.

Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri – who works for the likes of beIN Sports – took to Twitter this afternoon to claim that Arsenal have made contact with Higuain.

However, he also says that Manchester United are interested and replied to one of his followers to suggest that any potential deal would cost around €50m.

Arsene Wenger is believed to be keen to bring in another striker to compliment Giroud next season and Higuain would certainly bring an added goal-threat to the team. I personally think he’s a big upgrade on Giroud so would love to see him join the club.

The competition from United could put Arsene off as he doesn’t like to enter ‘bidding war’ situations, so we’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks. Let’s hope United turn their attention elsewhere as Higuain would be a great signing for The Arsenal if we could pull it off.
