Arsenal Trying To Secure Deal For £7m-Rated ‘New Eden Hazard’

By on June 23, 2015

It’s being reported today that Arsenal are looking to secure a £7m deal for Charly Musonda – who’s one of Chelsea’s most highly-rated young players.

All the talk in recent days has been about a deal for Petr Cech but it appears Arsene Wenger is trying to pull off a double raid on our West London rivals.

The Evening Standard [via French outlet Foot Mercato] claim that Musonda is hoping to leave Stamford Bridge this summer in search of regular first team football and Arsenal are among the clubs showing a keen interest.

Musonda only signed a new deal in March that ties him to the club until 2019, but the paper suggests that Chelsea are willing to cash-in on the 18-year-old for a fee of around £7m.

However, we aren’t the only club in the running and an apparent ‘source’ close to the midfielder told reporters that the likes of Man City, PSG, Monaco, Marseille and PSV are all also in the running for his signature.

“There are big clubs such as Manchester City, Arsenal and PSG who want a direct transfer,” a source close to the player told Foot Mercato.

“But also Monaco, Marseille and PSV want a loan deal with an option to buy.

“Charly wants to play at the highest level next season and he wants to go to a club where he can have guarantees in terms of playing time, and who will be of Chelsea’s calibre.

“With the Blues, he does not have guarantees, and that disturbs him, especially as he is very attached to the club.”

“The Blues are open to his departure, but not for less than €10 million [£7 million].

“And for the moment, Manchester City have an edge over Arsenal.

“PSG are waiting to learn more about their Financial Fair Play sanctions and to see which players will leave [this summer].”

Musonda moved to Chelsea from Anderlecht in 2012 and has risen through the youth ranks to become one of the clubs most highly-rated young stars.

The Belgian Under-21 international is an attacking midfielder who can play anywhere across the field and he’s been dubbed in the media as the ‘new Eden Hazard’ due to his nationality and playing style.

If he goes on to be half as good as Hazard then we should be all over this deal but can you really see Jose Mourinho selling us one of his young starlets as well as Petr Cech?

I highly doubt it, so unfortunately I have a feeling we’re going to miss out on this one. Plus, we can’t offer Musonda the regular game-time he wants to he’ll probably head off abroad somewhere to get more minutes.
