Mesut Ozil Linked With Shock €40m Arsenal Exit – Reports
Italian outlet Tuttosport claim that Mesut Ozil could make a shock €40m move from Arsenal to Juventus this summer as the Serie A champions look for potential replacements for Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba.
The duo have both been tipped to leave Turin this summer and should either player depart, then Tuttosport suggest Ozil is the man they’ll turn to with the story splashed across the front page of today.s paper [see below].
The report claims that Arsene Wenger and Ozil don’t have a close relationship, the boss doesn’t rate him as highly as he did before he came to the club and may be prepared to sell for €40m this summer – which works out at just below £30m [!).
Tuttosport suggest that if Vidal and Pogba don’t leave, then the Ozil transfer will be put on hold until 2016 but apparently they see our German maestro as the ‘phenomenon’ they’ve been looking for to fill the No.10 shirt.
So, where do we start will this story? Well, for a start it’s complete nonsense. To suggest Wenger isn’t a fan of Ozil’s and the pair don’t have a good relationship is beyond ridiculous.
But let’s say for a second that was true, the supposed €40m ‘asking price’ is what proves Tuttosport are simply making things up as they go along. That’s €10m less than we paid Real Madrid two years ago and the market has gone mad over the past 24 months.
If Benteke is worth £32m and Sterling £50m then Ozil is worth £100m! But no, Tuttosport think Arsene wants to cash-in on one of the best No.10’s on the planet for under £30m. Yeah right!
This story has got to be up there with one of the worst of the summer so far. Silly season has well and truly begun….
