Mesut Ozil has sent Danny Welbeck a get-well soon message on Twitter after the attacker was ruled out for several months with a knee problem.
Arsenal confirmed earlier today that Welbeck had undergone surgery to cure a troublesome knee issue that’s plagued him since the end of last season.
No official timescale has been put on his recovery but the 24-year-old is expected to be on the sidelines for ‘a period of months’ according to the clubs statement. See it here.
Always one to show the love, Mesut Ozil has taken to social media to send his best wishes to Danny and urge him to stay strong during his rehabilitation.
Ozil spent several months on the sidelines himself last season with a knee injury so he knows only too well how frustrating it will be for Welbeck over the coming weeks.
Hopefully the striker can make a speedy recovery as we’re going to sorely miss him while he’s out and it makes Arsene Wenger’s decision not to buy another forward even more bizarre as the club confirmed they made the decision to operate on Welbeck last week.
Here is Mesut’s tweet:
