Ratings: Giroud superb as Arsenal reach last 16 thanks to 3-0 win
Arsenal pulled off the miracle after Olivier Giroud scored a hat-trick to seal a stunning 3-0 victory at Olympiakos tonight. Here are my ratings:
Cech 7/10 – Great save to keep it at 2-0. Such an assured presence at the back.
Bellerin 7/10 – Picked his times to venture forward and was solid in defence.
Mertesacker 7.5/10 – Shaky start but made a crucial last ditch challenge to prevent the hosts scoring at 2-0.
Koscielny 8/10 – A rock at the back. Made a great near post interception to prevent a certain equaliser before half time and threw his body on the line to keep a clean sheet.
Monreal 7/10 – Another solid display by the ever-reliable Spaniard. Won the penalty for the second goal.
Ramsey 7/10 – Great cross on his wrong foot to set up Giroud. Got about the pitch in his box-to-box style.
Flamini 7/10 – Almost grabbed a goal but saw his shot cannon off the bar. Did his job.
Ozil 8.5/10 – Stunning ball out wide to free Ramsey to set-up the opener and ran the show once again, despite carrying a calf problem.
Walcott 6/10 – Made some decent runs but he was still rusty.
Campbell 8.5/10 – Sensational play to set-up Giroud for his second and worked his nuts off all game. A top performance.
Giroud 9/10 – Great header to open the scoring, although the keeper should have saved it, superb finish for his second and cool penalty to secure his hat-trick. Stunning performance from the big man.
