Oxlade-Chamberlain Starts: My Arsenal Line-Up To Take On Southampton
We take on Southampton on Boxing Day looking to keep the pressure on league leaders Leicester…here is the side I’d like to see start the game.
Goalkeeper: Cech
Petr Cech should start in goal, obviously.
Defence: Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal
The back four has been pretty settled all season but Arsene Wenger is probably going to have to mix things up over the next couple of weeks as we play four games in under two weeks.
It’s down to the boss to juggle things but I’d personally stick with the first choice back four for this tricky away game and then make changes at home to Bournemouth next Monday.
Therefore, I’d go with Mertesacker, Koscielny, Bellerin and Monreal against Southampton on Saturday.
Midfield: Flamini, Ramsey
Cazorla and Coquelin are out for the foreseeable future and Wilshere is still not ready to make his comeback, so we have little option but to stick with Flamini alongside Ramsey in midfield. Luckily the Frenchman is actually playing quite well of late so hopefully that will continue this weekend.
Attack: The Ox, Ozil, Walcott
Sanchez has suffered a setback in his return from a hamstring injury and is now out until January 10th. Joel Campbell has done very well in his absence but I’d like to see Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain given a start on the wing.
Walcott scored another excellent goal against Man City so obviously be should keep his place along with the mercurial Mesut Ozil.
Striker: Giroud
Giroud was on target again last time out so hopefully he can continue his good form at St Mary’s.
