The Sun are reporting today that Manchester United are readying a move for £50m-rated Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey this summer.

Jose Mourinho is going to do what he does best this summer and that’s spend ridiculous amounts of money building a team to challenge for the Premier League title next season.

The Portuguese coach is looking to strengthen his midfield and the newspaper claims that United remain hopeful of signing Arsenal target Henrikh Mkhitaryan after tabling an improved £28m offer.

However, Borussia Dortmund appear determined to keep hold of the Armenian international after losing Hummels and Gundogan already this summer, so the Sun states that Mourinho is ready to turn his attention to Ramsey.

Apparently the ‘Special One’ wants to turn Rambo in to the new Frank Lampard and the report claims United will test Arsenal’s resolve with an opening £35m bid but we’re understood to value the midfielder at nearer £50m.

That’s not to say Wenger would agree to sell if United put £50m on the table though as I very much doubt the boss would entertain any interest from Mourinho in any of his players.

Wenger and Mourinho HATE each other so I think it would be a pretty short phone call if Jose does enquire about Ramsey this summer. However, it raises an interesting question; should we sell the Welshman this summer if another club offers a huge sum like £50m?

Ramsey hasn’t been able to cement a place in his preferred central midfield role in recent years and his questionable form last season saw him played out on the wing at times – something he’s complained about in the media.

With Xhaka and Elneny arriving in recent months, competition in the middle of the park has never been greater. Arsene is going to have to choose two from Xhaka, Wilshere, Cazorla, Elneny, Coquelin and Ramsey next season, so Rambo may find himself out on the wing once again.

He’s looked superb in a more attacking central role for Wales at the Euro’s, but we have Mesut Ozil playing in the No.10 role so there’s no chance he’ll take that position next season.

I would personally like to see Ramsey given a chance alongside Xhaka next season to see if the Swiss enforcer can get the best out of him as Ramsey has all the talent to be a world beater. However, if his poor form continues we may have to consider cashing in next summer.

Wenger eyeing Higuain, Mane and Morata

Next season is going to be a pivotal one for Ramsey, but the same can be said for the likes of Wilshere and Coquelin, so it’s certainly going to be interesting to see who Wenger goes with as his midfield pairing next season.
