Sanchez & Ramsey Start in 4-2-3-1: My Arsenal XI to face Man City
Arsenal play our final pre-season game before the big kick off next weekend when we take on Manchester City in Gothenburg on Sunday evening ….this is the team I’d like to see Arsene Wenger go with….
Goalkeeper: Ospina
Cech didn’t feature against Viking on Friday night because of an eye infection and the Czech star is unlikely to be fit to face City so Ospina will keep his place in goal.
Defence: Bellerin, Chambers, Gabriel, Monreal
I think it makes sense to play our strongest available back four and the defence that’s likely to face Liverpool so I hope we see Chambers alongside Gabriel – who made a successful return to action on Friday.
Obviously Mertesacker is out for the long-term and Koscielny isn’t back in training yet so while Holding has impressed following his move from Bolton, I’d go with Calum in the middle of defence.
Gibbs and Debuchy started against Viking so I think it’s an easy call to say Bellerin and Monreal will come in against City.
Midfield: Xhaka, Elneny
Wenger has already confirmed that Xhaka will start after not featuring on Friday night and I think we could see him joined by Elneny in the middle of the park, and I’m excited to see how Granit performs against one of the strongest sides in the Premier League.
Cazorla was excellent against Viking but it would be a huge ask for him to play again after completing the full 90 minutes. Wilshere didn’t travel to Scandinavia due to a minor knee injury but he’ll be back in training on Monday.
Attack: The Ox, Ramsey, Iwobi
Oxlade-Chamberlain has been impressing in pre-season so I’d like to see him keep his place while Iwobi was excellent after coming off the bench to score twice last time out. It may be harsh on Campbell to leave him out but he played 70 minutes on Friday so don’t think it’s wise to start him again.
Wenger has confirmed that Ramsey will start and with Ozil unavailable, the Welshman could be deployed in a more advanced role. He starred at the Euro’s in an attacking midfield position so now’s his chance to replicate that form for Arsenal.
Striker: Sanchez
The boss has also hinted that Sanchez will replace Walcott up front tomorrow as the Chilean international looks to get some much-needed game time under his belt ahead of the new campaign.
With Welbeck cruelly ruled out with a knee injury and Giroud still not back from his holiday, we have limited options through the middle so we could see Sanchez up front against Liverpool next weekend if he can prove his fitness.
This would be my line-up to face City:
What would be your line-up? Let me know your thoughts….
