Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has posted an update on Instagram after he underwent surgery on his niggling Achilles injury.
Santi has been on the sidelines since aggravating his Achilles during our 6-0 thrashing of Ludogorets at the Emirates on October 19th.
The injury was only initially expected to keep the midfielder out for a matter of days but inflammation around the ankle has proven extremely difficult to shift.
After two anti-inflammatory injections failed to cure the issue, Cazorla was advised to have an operation and the club confirmed that the 32-year-old would travel to Sweden this week to go under the knife.
Santi has now taken to Instagram to upload a photo of him in his hospital bed and it will surprise no-one to see him smiling from ear-to-ear and giving the camera a big thumbs-up.
Cazorla also included a message saying that the surgery was ‘perfect’ and he’s looking forward to being back at the Emirates Stadium soon.
Now that the operation is out of the way, Cazorla is facing another recovery period that is expected to take between two-to-three months before he’ll be back in action.
That means we’ll be without the Spanish international until at least the start of February but fingers crossed he can make a swift recovery and be back to play a full part during the second half of the season.
It’s no secret we’ve sorely missed Cazorla and will continue to do so over the next few months but hopefully Granit Xhaka is ready to step-up and fill the void during his absence as the Swiss ace has the potential to be a real star for us.
