[Tweets] Ozil thanks Ludogorets for ‘assist’ + players praise Perez
Mesut Ozil has thanked Ludogorets for their ‘assist’ while some of the players have congratulated Lucas Perez for scoring a hat-trick during Arsenal’s 4-1 win in Basel last night.
Perez has been a marginal figure in the squad since arriving from Deportivo La Coruna in the summer with the striker restricted to making just a handful of starts in the first team.
However, he was given his first start in the Champions League last night and he took his opportunity to impress Arsene Wenger after scoring a hat-trick to put us 3-0 shortly after half-time.
Alex Iwobi also got a much-needed goal and although Basel grabbed a late consolation, we eased to a 4-1 win which saw us finish top of Group A after Ludogorets did us a huge favour by holding PSG to a 2-2 draw in Paris.
Ozil has now taken to Twitter to thank the Bulgarian minnows for their ‘assist’ in helping us secure top spot in our Champions League group which should hopefully ensure we get a more favourable draw in the last-16.
Petr Cech, Per Mertesacker and Hector Bellerin have all congratulated Lucas on his hat-trick while the striker has said he was happy his first Champions League goals for the club helped the team finish top.
Shkodran Mustafi, David Ospina, Rob Holding and Alex Iwobi have also taken to Twitter to post messages to their followers after a memorable night in Switzerland.
Here is what the boys have been up to on social media:
