Attacker confirms ‘talks’ amid reports of £38m Arsenal move

By on December 22, 2016

According to ESPN, Julian Draxler has confirmed that he’s in talks with a ‘couple of clubs’ amid reports that Arsenal are in the running to sign the Wolfsburg attacker in January.

Draxler has long been linked with a move to Arsenal with Arsene Wenger understood to have been close to signing the youngster before he joined Wolfsburg in a £30m deal in the summer of 2015.

Things have turned sour for the 23-year-old at the Volkswagen Arena after a serious fall-out with both club and player confirming that Draxler will be on the move next month.

PSG were the early favourites but one of the attackers representatives was quoted in the Mirror as saying earlier this week that Draxler is also mulling over an offer from Arsenal.

“Nothing is done, Julian is hesitating between PSG and Arsenal. For the moment, he is thinking.

“A decision will be made in the coming days. One thing is certain, he has played his last match for Wolfsburg.”

Now, Draxler himself has fuelled talk that he could be heading to the Emirates during the winter window after telling reporters that he’s in talks with a ‘a couple of clubs’ but insists he’s yet to make a final decision over who he’ll join.

Draxler is quoted by ESPN as saying:

“I am in talks with a couple of clubs, but so far no decision has been made. We will all sit down and make a sensible decision that is suitable for us.”

The report suggests that Wolfsburg are holding out for a fee in the region of £38m (€45m) but they may be forced to lower their expectations as they are actively trying to sell the Draxler after his own fans turned on him.

I’ve made no secret that I think Draxler would be a superb signing for Arsenal – I’ve said it for over two years – and we should be all over him now that he’s on the market.

Arsenal plotting move for Spanish star

The German international would be the ideal addition to our attack as he’d provide us with pace and creativity from out wide and a front four of Draxler, Ozil, Walcott and Sanchez would be a match for anyone.

Obviously PSG will provide stiff competition but if the player has anything about him, he’d much rather test himself in the Premier League so let’s hope Arsene Wenger will do all he can to lure him here next month.
