Arsenal to launch raid for £20m star, player open to move

By on May 18, 2017

According to the Evening Standard, Arsenal are set to launch a swoop for £20m-rated Juventus midfielder Mario Lemina as Arsene Wenger looks to revamp his squad this summer.

The Frenchman’s future is still up in the air as his contract is up next month and a decision is yet to be announced over whether he’ll stay or end his 21-year stay in north London.

However, all the signs point to Wenger signing a new deal with widespread reports suggesting he’s gearing-up for a busy summer that will see him rejuvenate his squad following a disappointing campaign.

A new central midfielder is on the agenda and the Evening Standard claim that Wenger has set his sights on Juventus ace Mario Lemina.

The 23-year-old joined Juve from Marseille in 2015 and is highly-rated in Italy but he’s struggled to force his way in to Max Allegri’s first team plans on a regular basis.

Lemina has managed just 15 Serie A starts in the last two years and the report says Juve are prepared to do business if a £20m offer is put on the table.

Arsenal are yet to open formal negotiations but the newspaper suggests that Wenger is ready to do so and Lemina is understood to be open to the idea of moving to England.

The Gabon international would be a solid addition to the squad and I think he’d be viewed as a replacement for Francis Coquelin with the Frenchman linked with a move to Valencia.

Lemina’s arrival would also cast further doubt over the future of Jack Wilshere as there is already plenty of competition in the middle of the park and Jack’s future is in serious doubt with his contract due to enter it’s final year.

However, we aren’t the only club in the race for Lemina’s signature as it’s believed Roma and Schalke are also interested so a deal isn’t going to be straightforward.
