Arsenal make £14m-a-year contract offer to key attacker
According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal have offered Alexis Sanchez a record deal worth £14m-per-season as the club look to persuade our star man to snub Bayern Munich this summer.
Sanchez’s current contract is about to enter it’s final year and we’ve been unable to agree terms over an extension despite holding lengthy negotiations with his representatives.
Understandably, Alexis has been strongly tipped to leave the Emirates following a frustration campaign that’s seen us miss out on Champions League football for the first time in 20 years.
Bayern Munich are the latest European heavyweight to be linked with London Football citing a report from Chilean outlet El Mercurio which claimed the attackers agent was in Germany earlier this week negotiating with the German giants.
However, it looks as though we’ve made another move to try and persuade Sanchez his future is still in north London as the Daily Mail are reporting today that we’ve put forward an improved offer worth £270,000-a-week.
That equates to just over £14m-a-year and would make Sanchez the highest paid player in the clubs history so we’re certainly doing all we can to try and tie him down to a new deal.
The Mail say our offer falls short of the £300,000-a-week Alexis is demanding but it does include additional add ons that takes it closer to the figure he wants.
We’ll have to wait and see whether our latest offer will be enough to tempt Sanchez and further talks are due to be held once tomorrow’s FA Cup final is out the way.
However, I’ve said all along that I don’t believe Sanchez’s situation is just about the money as the root of his frustrations come from our inability to compete for major honours.

The Chilean international has always maintained he’s content living in London and I’m sure we are willing to pay him enough money to stay if he really wants to, so the major stumbling block is persuading him it’s best for his career to stay at Arsenal.
He could join Bayern, Juventus or PSG and be guaranteed silverware each season and at 28, Alexis is now in the prime of his career so he’s got a huge decision to make this summer.
