Arsenal table formal £26m bid for La Liga midfielder
A report by Marca via the Express claims Arsenal have tabled an opening £26m bid for Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan but we will face plenty of competition for his signature.
Arsene Wenger is gearing-up for arguably the most important summer of his tenure at the club as he needs to resolve the future’s of several key players and build a squad capable of challenging for the title next season.
Several big names have been linked with a move to north London in recent weeks and Turan has been one of those touted as a potential target for Wenger.
Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo reported earlier this month that Wenger is ‘determined’ to sign Turan and has accelerated his plans to land the Barcelona midfielder.
It looks as though the boss has now formalised his interest as the Express are citing a report from Marca that claims Arsenal have tabled an opening £26.4m bid for the Turkish international.
The newspaper goes on to say that Barcelona are ready to sell the 30-year-old and have instructed Turan’s representatives to consider any serious offers that come in for the midfielder.
However, apparently we aren’t the only ones in the running for his signature as the newspaper says Inter Milan are among those also showing a keen interest in landing the talented star.
Who knows how much truth there is behind this report but Turan would be a solid signing if we could lure him to the Emirates as despite his troubles at Barcelona, he’s still a quality player.
The midfielder has struggled to establish himself at the Nou Camp having made just 14 La Liga appearances last season so it’s no wonder he’s been made available for transfer.

I’d like to see him join Arsenal to add some depth to our squad, however, I would be a little disappointed if Turan is the man Wenger has lined-up to replace Sanchez or Ozil – should either leave the club this summer.
