Agent speaks out on Arsenal’s £132m striker offer as Wenger confirms interest
Italian agent Giovanni Branchini has been quoted by CalcioMercato as confirming Arsenal’s huge £132m bid for Kylian Mbappe and Arsene Wenger has admitted his interest in the Monaco striker.
Mbappe has become the most sought after player of the summer window after bursting on to the scene with 24 goals and a further 14 assists to help lead Monaco to the title last season.
Arsenal are among a whole host of top European clubs who’ve been linked with the 18-year-old in recent weeks with the media saying several world record bids have been rejected by Monaco.
However, they may find it difficult to resist if the latest reports are true as CalcioMercato claim Arsenal have tabled a whopping £132m [€150m] offer for Mbappe and a football agent appears to have confirmed the bid has gone in.
Giovanni Branchini is a well known Italian agent who’s represented the likes of Ronaldo [the fat one], Demetrio Albertini and Rui Costa in the past and CalcioMercato say he’s one of the most well know intermediaries in football and an agent who’s well informed about top transfers in Europe.
Branchini has done an interview where he was quizzed about a number of transfers with Mbappe one of the players he spoke about and the agent says he isn’t sure whether the youngster will end up at Madrid.
“I don’t know if Mbappe will move to Real Madrid”, Branchini is quoted as saying by CalcioMercato
The agent was then asked about Arsenal’s £132m [€150m] offer for Mbappe, to which he replied:
“Arsenal did not spend much money in the last few years, but their policy will change in the next two seasons. It may be an exaggerate offer but not an immoral one.”
The news comes after Wenger confirmed his interest in signing Mbappe this summer but the boss admits he faces stiff competition from several top European clubs.
Speaking at his press conference in Australia this morning, when asked about his interest in Mbappe, Wenger is quoted by the Guardian as saying:
“He’s a player who, when he gets up in the morning, can chose where he wants to go,”
“There are not many players with that kind of luck because he’s 18 years of age and all of Europe has a red carpet open for him. Nobody can say he is not interested in a player of that calibre, all the clubs are interested in him.”
So we all know Arsene wants to buy Mbappe. He’s said so many times. However, would we really pay £132m for one player? It seems like a ridiculous amount of money for a teenager who’s only had one great season but I suppose transfer fees are heading in that direction.

And let’s not forget, Mbappe will probably be worth over £200m by the time we come to sell him to Madrid in a few years time so it would be a wise investment.
We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks. My gut feeling is Mbappe will stay with Monaco for another year but we have a decent chance of signing him if he does opt for a move this summer.
