[Player Ratings] Arsenal 4-3 Leicester: Giroud the hero but Ozil flops
Olivier Giroud came off the bench to score a dramatic winner as Arsenal twice came from behind to beat Leicester 4-3 in a thriller at the Emirates tonight.
Lacazette put us ahead early on before Leicester went 2-1 up through goals from Okasaki and Vardy thanks to some woeful defending. Welbeck equalised with a tap-in just before half-time before the Foxes went 3-2 up thanks to a Vardy header.
Ramsey came off the bench to make it 3-3 in the 82nd minute before Giroud scored a dramatic winner with a lovely header to secure a vital 4-3 win.
Here are my ratings:
Cech 5/10 | Poor decision making and positioning for the first two goals.
Holding 5/10 | All over the place at times in the first half and was especially poor for the second goal. Substituted midway through the second period. Not fair asking a rookie to play in such a make-shift back three.
Monreal 5/10 | Played out of position in the middle of the back three and looked way out his depth. No idea why Mertesacker didn’t start.
Kolasinac 7/10 | An absolute tank but showed he’s got the skills to match. Committed in the challenge, set-up the second goal and made some important interceptions. Going to be a fan favourite.
Bellerin 6/10 | Pushed too high up the pitch at times which exposed Holding and we got caught out as both the first two goals came down his side.
Elneny 6/10 | Lovely cross set-up the opener but he’s such a limited player. I just don’t see what he brings to the team. Average. Average. Average.
Xhaka 7/10 | A mixed bag. Controlled the game for long periods, showed off his passing range and got two assists. However, was badly at fault for the second due to a wayward pass and was poor for the first goal, too.
Oxlade-Chamberlain 6/10 | Another who was hit and miss. He had some excellent moments but once again his final ball and shooting was poor.
Ozil 5/10 | Didn’t look match fit. Not his usual self on the ball and was wasteful. Disappointing start to the season.
Welbeck 7/10 | Wasted a couple of big chances in the first half but on hand to score the vital goal before half time.
Lacazette 7/10 | Poachers finish to open his account and his movement/work rate was excellent. Will score plenty of goals – if only our defence could prevent them going in at the other end.

Subs:
Ramsey 8/10 | Great contribution as he came off the bench to score the vital equaliser with a superb finish.
Giroud 8/10 | Trademark header to win it at the death. Whatever you say about Giroud, he’s an absolute weapon to have off the bench.
Walcott 5/10 | Could have grabbed a goal at the end.
