Arsenal prepare bid for 23-year-old attacker but Man Utd also keen

By on August 21, 2017

According to a report in the Express, Arsenal are preparing a bid for Julian Draxler but we face competition from the likes of Manchester United to sign the Paris Saint-Germain attacker.

Draxler only joined PSG from Wolfsburg during the January window but he still managed to score 10 goals in his 25 appearances during the second half of last season.

However, he’s been tipped to leave the Parc des Princes following Neymar’s world record move from Barcelona while Kylian Mbappe’s potential arrival would see him fall even further down the pecking order.

The 23-year-old was a late substitute during PSG’s 6-2 win over Toulouse last night with Angel Di Maria joining Neymar and Edinson Cavani in attack while Lucas Moura is also on the books at the French giants.

So it’s safe to say they have a wealth of attacking talent at their disposal and it looks like Draxler is the man to be sacrificed as the Express claim he’s been told he’s surplus to requirements this season.

A move to England could be on the cards as the newspaper is citing a report from Transfermarketweb that claims Arsenal have approached PSG about a deal and are now lining-up a formal offer.

Arsene Wenger has been tracking Draxler for several years and we’ve been strongly linked with him in the past so it’s no surprise to hear we’ve renewed our interest now that he’s available this summer.

The boss has been trying to sign Thomas Lemar in recent months but with Monaco digging their heels in, it looks like Wenger is ready to turn his attention to signing Draxler instead.

I’d welcome that move as the German international is far more established both at club and international level and I think he’d be a sensational signing for us if we could get a deal agreed.

However, we’ll face some stiff competition as the Express claim that Man Utd are also considering a bid while Liverpool are also believed to be weighing-up a move for the German youngster.
