Arsenal keen on signing South American winger, £20m deal could be done in January
According to a report in The Sun, Arsenal are showing a keen interest in signing Mexican winger Hirving Lozano and could land the PSV star for £20m in January.
Lozano came through the youth ranks at Pachuca and earned a move to PSV back in June after scoring 31 goals in 120 games for the Mexican outfit.
The 22-year-old has enjoyed an excellent start to life in Holland having scored 6 goals in just 6 games so far and it seems his potential has alerted Arsenal.
The Sun are citing a report from the Daily Mail that claims chief scout Steve Rowley has made regular trips to Eindhoven to watch Lozano up close and has been impressed by what he’s seen.
No formal offer has been made just yet but the newspaper suggests that Arsenal could tempt PSV to cash-in on the South American winger if £20m was put on the table this winter.
Arsene Wenger is going to need to rejuvenate his attacking options over the coming months with Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil set to leave and it looks like Lozano is on his radar.
The Mexican international is known for his pace and silky skills and is predominantly played on the left wing, despite being right-footed, so he could be viewed as a potential replacement for Sanchez.
His lack of experience in a top European league would be a concern but Lozano has the potential to develop in to a top class player so he could be worth a punt if we could get a deal agreed at £20m.
However, I’d personally rather see the club bring in someone more established as Sanchez is going to leave a huge void to fill if/when he does leave so we need someone who’s going to hit the ground running.
