Arsenal ready to use £30m star as bait to land German attacker
According to the Daily Star, Arsenal are ready to use Alexis Sanchez as bait in order to tempt Paris Saint-Germain in to a swap deal involving Julian Draxler.
Sanchez is almost certain to leave the club after failing to agree terms over an extension and the attacker will be free to talk with foreign clubs in January as his deal is due to expire at the end of the season.
The Chilean international came close to joining Manchester City on deadline day in the summer but our failure to land Thomas Lemar meant Sanchez was forced to remain at the Emirates.
City are fully expected to renew their interest, possibly even in January, and the Daily Star claim Arsenal are ready to cash-in this winter at £30m rather than lose him for nothing in June.
However, understandably the club would prefer not to see Alexis join City so the newspaper says we’re hoping to use him as bait to tempt PSG in to a swap deal with Draxler.
The German international has long been tipped for a move to Arsenal and we were strongly linked during the summer after PSG splashed out on Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
The 24-year-old has started just 1 of PSG’s Champions League games so far and is playing in the shadow of Neymar, Mbappe and Edison Cavani while he’s also competing with the likes of Angel Di Maria and Lucas Moura for a starting spot.
PSG need to sell in order to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations so they might be tempted to sell Draxler and they should make a profit even if they get Sanchez in exchange as no doubt he’s worth more than the £30m were valuing Alexis at.
I think it would be an excellent piece of business if we could secure a swap deal as I’d hate to see Sanchez ending up at City and this way we’d also get a world class player in return to replace the outgoing Chilean.
However, it remains to be seen whether Sanchez would be open to joining PSG and I have a horrible feeling he’s already got his heart set on moving to the Etihad Stadium.
