Arsenal in talks with sign Germany star in January
L’Equipe, via the Metro, are reporting that Arsenal have opened talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a deal to sign Julian Draxler on loan this winter.
Draxler has long been tipped for a move to Arsenal and we were once again strongly linked during the summer after PSG splashed out on Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
The German international is now playing in the shadow of those big-money signings with Unai Emery asking him to play in a deeper midfield role to accommodate the wealth of attacking talent at his disposal.
PSG are expected to offload several players during the January transfer window as they need to free-up wages in order to comply with Financial Fair Play and Draxler is among those tipped to depart.
It looks like Arsenal have now made their move as the Metro are citing a report from L’Equipe that claims we’ve opened talks with PSG about signing Draxler on an initial loan deal this winter.
Arsene Wenger needs to rejuvenate his attack as Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil are both set to leave either in January or when their contracts expire in June and Draxler would be a superb addition to the squad.
No doubt we won’t be the only club in the running but I pray we manage to lure the 24-year-old to the Emirates as I think he’d a huge talent who would shine if given a more prominent role.
It looks increasingly likely that Sanchez and Ozil won’t be signing new deals so despite their performances against Tottenham at the weekend, I wouldn’t be against cashing-in in January as long as we could get someone like Draxler as a replacement.
