2 Arsenal players named in the Europa League Team of the Week
Arsenal duo Theo Walcott and Jack Wilshere have been named in the Europa League Team of the Week following their performances during our 6-0 win over BATE Borisov last night.
Walcott produced his best display of the season as was heavily involved in the majority of our goals with the 27-year-old setting-up Mathieu Debuchy to open the scoring before making it 2-0 shortly before half time.
The attacker then set-up a further goal before winning the penalty that Olivier Giroud converted midway through the second half so it’s no surprise to see Theo named in the Europa League TOTW.
Wilshere continued to impress in the cup competitions as he put-in another terrific all-round performance that saw him pull the strings from an advanced central midfield position.
Jack showcased his range of passing abilities and also scored his first goal in two-and-a-half years as he rifled in a lovely left-footed shot on the stroke of half time.
Wilshere joins Walcott in being named in the Europa League Team of the Week so it’s great to see two Arsenal players make the cut – although after a 6-0 win perhaps it’s a surprise not to see more Gunners players in the side.
Here is the full team:
*UPDATE* It seems I somehow managed to miss the fact that Debuchy was also included in the team! Apologies Mathieu….
