[Player Ratings] Arsenal 1-0 West Ham: Welbeck the hero, Walcott woeful
Arsenal are through to the semi finals of the Carabao Cup after beating West Ham 1-0 at the Emirates this evening.
It was a poor game with few clear cut chances but we booked our place in the last four thanks to a Danny Welbeck goal just before half time.
Here are my ratings:
Ospina 6/10 | Barely had to make a save – in fact I don’t remember him doing anything other than catching a few crosses.
Debuchy 7/10 | Set up the goal with a decent header and was solid down the flank.
Chambers 6/10 | A relatively simple night’s work for Calum. Wasn’t stretched at all and dealt with anything West Ham threw at us [which wasn’t a lot].
Holding 6/10 | See above.
Kolasinac 7/10 | Produced a wonderful cross which Walcott should have converted and put in a decent shift on the left flank.
Coquelin 7/10 | Was involved in the build-up to the goal and didn’t put a foot wrong until he limped off injured near the end.
Willock 6/10 | Decent in possession when he saw the ball but wasn’t involved enough to really impress.
Elneny 6/10 | Kept things ticking over in midfield but didn’t really have any positive influence on the game. A very limited player.
Walcott 5/10 | Missed a sitter in the first half and his crossing was woeful. Another opportunity wasted to stake his claim for a first team spot.
Welbeck 7/10 | Bundled the ball home to score the only goal of the game. Plenty of movement and willing but this wasn’t a night for strikers as it was a poor quality game.
Giroud 5/10 | Didn’t really do much until he limped off with what looks like a nasty hamstring injury.
Subs:
Nelson, Sheaf, Dasilva N/A | The youngsters were all introduced during the closing stages of the game.
