[Photos] Mavropanos poses with Wenger after completing Arsenal move
Arsenal have confirmed on Arsenal.com the signing of highly-rated Greek centre-back Konstantinos Mavropanos from PAS Giannina.
Mavropanos has developed in to one of the most exciting young talents in Greek football since breaking in to the first team at Giannina last year.
The 20-year-old made 20 appearances in all competitions and has been tipped to go on to become a senior international having already represented Greece at U21 level.
Mavropanos was identified as a target by Arsenal’s new chief scout Sven Mislintat and he has played a key role in his signature due to his close ties with the players agent.
Olympiakos were also strongly linked with a move for Mavropanos but reports emerged yesterday that the defender was in London to complete his move to the Emirates after we had agreed a deal for his signature.
Arsene Wenger confirmed after our draw with Chelsea last night that the youngster was set to join the club and we’ve now confirmed his arrival on Arsenal.com this evening.
No details of the fee or contract length have been disclosed but the Mirror claim we’ve paid around £2.2m and Mavropanos is expected to have penned a long-term deal.
The boss confirmed last night that we’d send him out on loan to gain first team experience and a switch to Werder Bremen has been touted in the media.
Here are some photos of Mavropanos after completing his move:
