Arsenal on verge of signing £40m star after discussing personal terms on Sunday
Arsenal are on the verge of signing Malcom after holding talks with the Bordeaux winger’s representatives over the weekend, according to various reports today.
Arsene Wenger is in the market for another attacker [two if you believe the reports linking us with Aubameyang] as Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott are set to leave the club this month.
Malcom has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates in recent weeks and the Independent claim we’re now on the verge of securing a £40m deal after outbidding Tottenham – who wouldn’t pay more than £31m.
The newspaper suggests that Arsenal’s new head of recruitment, Sven Mislintat, is the driving force behind the signing as he’s a long-term admirer of Malcom’s and enjoy’s a close relationship with his agent.
The Guardian claim that Arsenal chiefs were in France on Sunday discussing personal terms with Malcom’s representatives so it looks like a deal is now edging closer to completion.
The 20-year-old has emerged as one of the most exciting young attackers in Europe since moving to France two years ago and he’s expected to be named in the Brazil squad for the World Cup finals.
Malcom has provided 7 goals and 4 assists in his 18 Ligue 1 appearances this season and he can play anywhere across the attacking midfield positions so he’d be an excellent signing if we could get a deal agreed.
I personally think Malcom is being lined-up as a replacement for Walcott so I expect another more established player to arrive once Sanchez eventually leaves for Manchester.
