4-2-3-1: Trio of youngsters to start | My Arsenal line-up to face Ostersunds
Arsenal take a commanding 3-0 lead in to the second leg of our Europa League last-32 clash with Ostersunds tonight. Here is the team I would like to see Arsene Wenger select….
Goalkeeper: Ospina
Wenger has confirmed that Ospina will retain his place in goal so Cech won’t be involved and we should see Macey on bench.
Defence: Chambers, Mertesacker, Holding, Kolasinac
The boss is set to rest his key men ahead of Sunday’s cup final so Koscielny, Bellerin, Monreal and Mustafi should all be given the night off this evening.
I hope Kolasinac is given a run-out as he looks a shadow of the player that arrived in the summer so he needs to get his form and confidence back.
This could be a good opportunity to hand Mertesacker a rare start in defence with Holding also starting alongside the German legend at the back.
We don’t have too many options behind Bellerin so Chambers is probably the only realistic choice at right-back.
Midfield: Maitland-Niles, Willock
It was great to see Maitland-Niles given a chance in midfield last week and I hope he’s given another run out tonight – although I’d love to see him stick to a defensive midfield role in front of the defence.
Wilshere will be rested for the City game while Ramsey won’t be risked tonight as he only returned to training yesterday after recovering from a groin injury.
Elneny will probably play tonight but I’d like to see Joe Willock given a chance to impress again as he looks like a great prospect.
Attack: Nelson, Mkhitaryan, Iwobi, Welbeck
Ozil has been ‘sick’ again this week so he won’t feature tonight while Aubameyang is ineligible and Lacazette is still recovering from knee surgery that will keep him out until next month.
Welbeck is certain to start up front and I hope he puts in a better performance as he was well off the pace last week and it makes sense for Mkhitaryan to start as he’s cup tied on Sunday.
I hope we see Nelson get a start in his preferred attacking role as he was asked to play wing-back in the group stages while Iwobi could be the best option on the left side of the attack.
This is the team I hope we see:
