4-3-2-1: Duo to return, Xhaka out: My Arsenal XI to face AC Milan
Arsenal will protect a 2-0 lead when we welcome AC Milan to the Emirates for the second leg of our Europa League tie this evening. Here is the team I would like to see Arsene Wenger select….
Goalkeeper: Ospina
Cech finally saved a penalty and got his 200th clean sheet at the weekend but Ospina should return tonight to resume his role as ‘cup keeper’.
Defence: Bellerin, Koscielny, Mustafi, Monreal
We’ve been boosted by the news that Bellerin and Monreal have been passed fit after recovering from knee and back injuries respectively so the Spanish duo should be recalled in the full-back positions. Maitland-Niles and Kolasinac will make way.
Mustafi has also been declared fit after making a swift recovery from a groin injury that forced him off during the win over Watford while Koscielny will be recalled after his rest at the weekend.
Midfield: Elneny, Wilshere, Ramsey
Xhaka has actually produced a couple of solid displays over the past week, however, I thought Elneny was our MOTM at the weekend and he deserves to keep his place.
The Egyptian international offers us more security sitting in front of the defence and that’s what we need as we look to protect our lead against Milan this evening.
Therefore, I’d drop Xhaka as Ramsey should obviously be recalled after being rested against Watford while Wilshere should keep his place despite putting in some inconsistent performances of late.

Attack: Ozil, Mkhitaryan, Welbeck
Aubameyang is unavailable in Europe and while Lacazette is back in training he’s not yet fit for selection so Welbeck is set for another start up front.
Danny did alright in the first leg as he worked hard and gave the Milan defence some problems but he needs to be far more clinical in front of goal.
Mkhitaryan has scored in our last two games and got the opener in the first leg so he should be full of confidence and I’m backing him to produce a top class display this evening.
I think him and Ozil are starting to build more of an understanding so hopefully we also see our German playmaker step-up on the big occasion against Milan.
This is the team I hope we see:
