Arsenal could agree deal to sign highly-rated attacking midfielder this week

By on April 10, 2018

According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal have stepped-up their pursuit to sign Barcelona midfielder Robert Navarro after Manchester City cooled their interest in the youngster.

Navarro has emerged as one of the stars of Barcelona’s La Masia academy and has been tipped to eventually break in to the first team over the coming years.

However, the highly-rated 15-year-old’s future at the Nou Camp is in serious doubt as he’s yet to agree terms over a professional contract despite lengthy negotiations with the club.

Navarro turns 16 on April 12th so will be free to join another club on Thursday if he doesn’t sign a deal with Barca over the next few days and it seems Arsenal are in pole position to sign him.

The Daily Mail claim Arsenal have stepped up their pursuit of the teenager after tracking him all season and could lure him to England after Man City cooled their interest in the midfielder.

If Navarro decides to leave Barca, we’ll only have to pay a nominal compensation fee and it would be something of a coup for Arsenal if we manage to win the race for his signature.

Navarro is a talented attacking midfielder who’s known for his superb ball skills with team-mates giving him the nickname ‘Robertinho’, so it sounds like he has a huge future ahead of him.

Obviously Arsenal have a history of raiding Barca’s youth system after snapping-up the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Hector Bellerin over the years and Navarro could be the latest to swap Catalonia for north London.

If he does decide to leave, Navarro will join the likes of Adama Traore, Alex Grimaldo and Gerard Gumbau to snub Barca in favour of plying their trades elsewhere in recent years.
